MOUNTAINS AND BOOKS

(AS OPPOSED TO MOUNTAINS OF BOOKS - WHICH DESCRIBES MY OFFICE)

Well, with the passing of Labor Day here in the US we’re heading into Fall (Autumn to my civilized friends).  Here in North Carolina heading up to the mountains in the West of the State is a great way to see some stunning landscape daubed in an amazing spectrum of colors; ranging from the defiant greens of the evergreens, through to the burnished reds, browns, oranges and yellows as the seasonal foliage turns.  It’s the kind of view that goes beyond something you just see and settles in your soul.

For the second year running I have the opportunity to visit this vista and indulge my other love, books.  I’ll be a guest of the Carolina Mountains Literary Festival in Burnsville this weekend on the 10th & 11th September.

Now while the main drive of the festival tends to be books of a somewhat more literary persuasion than I tend to work in, the awesome thing about the festival is that it’s incredibly inclusive, and via a local comic studio they are open to presenting and promoting ANYTHING that will get folks reading.

Including comic books!

I’ll be sitting on three panels during Friday and I plan on attending the end of Festival Banquet on Saturday evening.  If you’re in the area, you should definitely swing by and have a look.  It’s a great group of people, in an amazing little town, surrounded by some truly stunning scenery.

And there are books too.  LOTS of books.
