As promised I’m back with news of what’s been going on this week.
First of all Luci Phurr’s Imps is going great. Just so much fun to work on. One of the most surprising things is the comments and the chance to have a little back and forth with readers.
As I promised last week, I’m gonna start to reveal more info on the projects I have in development on the print-side of things.
The first one to mention is Nightmares in Oz. If you click on the link, you’ll be able to see some early, sneak-peek pages from the very start of the book. If you’ve been following Luci Phurr’s Imps, you might find it a little surprising that this is one of my books, since it’s most definitely NOT a humorous project. The idea, when it was pitched to me, was to create a comic book version of the movies like Halloween, Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street... but with a background influence of L.Frank Baum’s book “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.” Quite a challenge.
What might be even more surprising is that my collaborator on Luci Phurr’s Imps, Courtney Huddleston is also the artist on THIS book too. The guy just has an immense talent, and to be able to switch gears from the stylized cartooniness of Luci Phurr’s Imps, to the more realistic and definitely grizzly look of Nightmares in Oz, is just staggering.
I would also be asking for a good slap if I didn’t take a moment here to mention the coloring of this book. Ed Ryzowski is just lifting these pages to a whole new level. The guy is whiz with the digital palette and deserves some serious kudos for his work on Nightmares in Oz.
Look out for more updates on this project (including a special secret project that Courtney and myself are working on, linked to Nightmares in Oz which will be a MUST for anyone who buys the book); as well as extra sneak-peeks and release date information. All that and more information on other books coming soon.
